Dr. Marilyn Schorin gained extensive experience in scientific, health, and nutrition strategies with more than 20 years in the food industry. She worked for Weight Watchers (Heinz) planning the nutrition program, the Pepsi-Cola Company, and most recently, Yum Brands (KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut parent).

Previously, she consulted for a wide variety of Fortune 500 corporations, identifying emerging issues and combining communications and regulatory plans to control or exploit these issues.

As Chief Nutrition and Regulatory Officer for Yum Brands, Dr. Schorin coordinated efforts to find reduced trans fat alternatives for both domestic and global business units. She led efforts to communicate more nutrition information to consumers and health professionals.

At Pepsi, Dr. Schorin integrated regulatory and scientific strategy in the formulation of novel beverage concepts including Aquafina Purified Water, vitamin- and mineral- enhanced Aquafina Essentials. All Sport, dairy beverages such as Smooth Moos and Starbuck’s Frappucino, Fruitworks and SoBe beverages.

Marilyn’s involvement with numerous professional societies, trade and communications groups throughout the world earned wide recognition in the food business.

Dr. Schorin received her Ph.D. in Nutritional Biochemistry from Columbia University, a Masters in Public Health Nutrition from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from University of California at Berkley. She is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Fellow of the American Dietetic Association (FADA). She has been adjunct assistant professor at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey).

She has served on the board of International Life Sciences Institute for North America. She was a founder of the Sports and Cardiovascular Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group of the American Dietetic Association an served as chairman of this group. Dr. Schorin is a member of The Institute of Food Technologists (Nutrition Division officer), The American College of Sports Medicine, The American Society for Nutrition, The Obesity Society, Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior and The American Dietetic Association.

Marilyn is active in the community on the Kentucky Center Endowment Board, the Advisory Council for the (KY) Governor’s School for the Arts, and the regional American Heart Association Board.
